PKN actively takes part in development of international standardization documents
The Polish Committee for Standardization (PKN) actively contributes to the development of international standardization by managing the secretariats of selected technical committees operating within the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
Managing a Technical Committee secretariat is a responsible and prestigious role involving the coordination of cooperation among experts from many countries organizing the work related to the development of international standardization documents. Polish experts participate in elaborating International Standards and other documents that support safety, interoperability, and development of a modern economy.
ISO/TC 98
One of the committees whose secretariat is managed by PKN is ISO/TC 98 Bases for Design of Structures. The committee develops bases for the design of building structures, with particular emphasis on structural safety and reliability. Poland also manages ISO/TC 98/SC 2 Reliability of Structures.
The secretariat of ISO/TC 98 has been managed by PKN since the committee was established in 1961. Katarzyna Maciejczyk serves as Committee Manager for both committees, while Dr. Eng. Jacek Szafran, Professor at Lodz University of Technology, serves as Chair of ISO/TC 98 and ISO/TC 98/SC 2.

IEC/TC 27
PKN also manages the secretariat of IEC/TC 27 Industrial Electroheating and Electromagnetic Processing. Operating within the IEC framework, the committee is responsible for the standardization of equipment and installations used in electroheating processes and electromagnetic material processing.
The scope of IEC/TC 27 covers technologies used, among others, in metallurgy, the chemical industry, the production of advanced materials, and electronic devices. The standards developed by the committee support the safety of equipment and installations, energy efficiency, and the advancement of modern industrial technologies.

Managing the secretariats of ISO and IEC technical committees confirms the competence of Polish experts and Poland’s active role in international standardization. Through cooperation among scientific, industrial, and technical communities, it is possible to jointly develop solutions that address contemporary technological and economic challenges.
