May 20 – Polish Standardisation Day – PKN conference

Polish Standardisation Day (DNP) is an annual celebratory day established 15 years ago on the initiative of the President of PKN, which aims to honour all persons and entities actively participating in Polish standardisation, including government administration bodies, economic organisations and representatives of science and technology. It is also an opportunity to promote the idea of voluntary standardisation and to emphasise the benefits resulting from the use of standards.
This year, as part of the DNP celebrations, we held the PKN conference at the Leonardo Royal Hotel Warsaw on May 20 entitled „The Future of Security: Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Threats and Information Management. Standardisation in the Face of New Challenges”. This year's theme – focusing on artificial intelligence, cyber threats and information management – perfectly reflected the current needs and challenges facing the modern world.
The event was an opportunity for joint reflection on the role of standards in building a modern, safe and sustainable Europe. The conference brought together representatives of administration, science, business and technical experts, creating space for open dialogue on contemporary challenges and opportunities related to digitization, artificial intelligence and security.
The invited speakers talked, among others, about standardisation in the field of information security as the foundation of European cooperation; they introduced the issue of AI in the transformation of cybersecurity, and also presented the strategic directions of artificial intelligence development in Poland.
Artificial intelligence is not only algorithms – it is decisions that affect our lives. And where technology meets humans, ethics and trust become as important as efficiency and innovation. In this context, standardisation can - and should – act as a compass that helps to set safe and transparent directions of development.
The conference culminated in a panel discussion entitled: "AI in the 21st century: Safety of use, application, creation of AI", in which the threats related to AI and the challenges that lie ahead of us were discussed. The event was held under the honorary patronage of the Polish Presidency of the EU, the Ministry of Digital Affairs, the Government Security Center and the Scientific and Academic Computer Network - National Research Institute.
