14th NATIONAL COMPETITION “STANDARDIZATION AND ME” – RESULTS ANNOUNCED

The aim of the educational activities of the Polish Committee for Standardization (PKN) is to promote standardization and to support the introduction of standardization-related knowledge into schools and educational programs, mainly in vocational schools and higher education institutions. Each year, PKN also organizes the nationwide competition “Standardization and Me” for students and teachers of secondary schools.

The theme of the recently concluded 14th edition of the “Standardization and Me” competition was “Active with Standards”, and its objectives were:

• To promote knowledge about the importance of standards in sports and recreation.
• To raise awareness of how important safety is in sports and recreational activities.
• To demonstrate that the use of standards in sports equipment and recreation is crucial for fair play, comparability of results, and the protection of participants' health.
• To promote knowledge about standardization in the context of the safe use of sports and recreational equipment.

The competition attracted significant interest – a total of 196 submissions were received.
In the “Artwork” category – 134 entries; in the “Written Work – Student Paper” category – 23 entries; and in the “Film” category – 18 entries. Teachers submitted 21 lesson plans.

The selection board, composed of: Wojciech Mazurek (PKN – Chair), Grażyna Gregorczyk (independent expert – Promoter of Standardization Education), Donata Andrzejczak (independent expert – Promoter of Standardization Education), Bogdan Kruszakin (independent expert – Promoter of Standardization Education), Barbara Płotczyk (*KCER – Promoter of Standardization Education), Magdalena Mrozkowiak (*ORE), Zygmunt Niechoda (independent expert), Olga Pieniążek-Bylewska (PKN), and Paweł Górski (PKN – Secretary), met on March 31, 2026, at the PKN headquarters and, after several hours of deliberation, selected the winning entries.
